New York’s DFS Cybersecurity Regulation (23 NYCRR 500), implemented in 2017, is a pioneering effort to establish standards for the financial industry in safeguarding nonpublic information. The regulation mandates that financial institutions and financial services companies establish a comprehensive plan for assessing and mitigating cybersecurity risk.
