“Phishing” refers to an attempt by cyber criminals to steal sensitive information, generally in the form of usernames, passwords, credit card numbers, bank account information, or other crucial data, with the intention of using or selling the obtained information for personal gain. Phishing scams rely on email, text messaging or phone calls to trick people into divulging these sensitive details.
It is estimated that 90% of data breaches occur via phishing. According to the US Federal Bureau of Investigation, phishing attacks may increase by as much as 400% year-over-year, making more important than ever to know how to recognize and protect yourself against these threats.
